Position Summary:

Reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager, the Senior Cost Engineer is responsible for supporting all areas of cost management for the Facilities Engineering Team.  

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

A. Core Competencies:

B. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing project cost estimates, including the maintenance of a historical cost database for reference in building up budgetary cost estimates.
  • Support the Facilities team with project sanctioning requests.
  • Submit cost estimates for AFE approval once developed and approved.
  • Track and report on incurred project cost and overall cost performance.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure correct cost allocation.
  • Assist the Facilities Engineering Manager with the development of the yearly department budget.
  • Support the Facilities Engineering Manager and the broader team in all aspects as per the HKN Energy project execution strategy.

C. Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Clear understanding of cost estimate classification in line with AACE International Standards and Recommended Practices.
  • Clear understanding of the key components of Facilities Engineering Projects which can be applied to the cost management function.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrates a high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates Excellent overall communication skills.

Qualifications & requirements

A.   Education and Qualifications Expected / Required:

  • Degree / diploma in an applicable discipline or study area
  • AACE certification preferred, not required

B.      Experience Expected / Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a cost engineer with a minimum of 2 years of this experience within a Facilities Engineering Team.

 

C.     Other Relevant Competency Requirements:

  • Good team member and leadership skills
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
