Job Description

Position: Senior Accountant – Accounts Payable (AP)
Work Location: Iraq - Erbil
Employment Type: Full-time 8:00 am till 5pm Saturday to Thursday
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years
Salary: 1,000,000–1,600,000 IQD per month
Language Requirements: English and Arabic advanced
Accounting System: Experience with accounting software is required; Odoo

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and verify supplier invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Match supplier invoices with purchase orders and material receipt documents.
  • Obtain the required approvals before processing supplier payments.
  • Prepare and process supplier payments through bank transfers, checks, or cash as applicable.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies or payment-related inquiries.
  • Monitor invoice due dates and ensure timely payments to avoid late-payment penalties.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier information and payment records.
  • Record all Accounts Payable transactions accurately in the company's accounting system.
  • Prepare periodic Accounts Payable reports and provide updates to management when required.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of invoices, payment records, and supporting documents.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's financial, accounting, and tax policies and procedures.

Qualifications & requirements

*Required Qualifications & Skills*

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a Senior Accountant or Accounts Payable position.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Accounts Payable and supplier account management.
  • Experience in company accounting and financial procedures.
  • Good knowledge of invoice verification, payment processing, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; Odoo experience is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Iraqi financial and tax requirements is preferred for KRG and Iraq.
