Job Summary and Scope of Responsibilities

The Operations and Maintenance Assistant will assist with operational workload as directed by the Production Supervisor/Production Superintendent. The position requires the candidate to work 2 weeks onshift by 2 weeks off rotation and be based at HKN remote camps for the 2 week on shift period.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support with field sampling (sour crude systems).
  • Analysis and recording of results against set specifications, including but not limited to:
  • Sulphur content in Diesel and crude
  • Hydrogen Sulfide content in crude
  • Determination of Salt content in crude
  • Density levels in Diesel and crude
  • Basic sediment and water content in crude
  • The role will support the laboratory technician at times of high activity as directed by the Production Supervisor. The role is considered to be diverse and will develop production based competencies as determined by the HKN competency assurance program (ECAS).
  • The role will support any area determined by the Production Supervisor/Production Superintendent, based on activity levels and individuals workload.

Qualifications & requirements




Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous Laboratory experience with sampling, analysis and reporting using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience of working in the Oil and gas industry, particularly with sour crude systems.
  • Awareness of HSE regulations and requirements.
  • Educated, preferably to degree level.
  • Proficient with English language.
  • Self-motivated, exceptional initiative and adaptable to support any areas as required.
  • Able to work within a Team environment and not specifically assigned to Laboratory work only.
