Job Description

Under the directions of the FYF Senior Field Logistics Officer and the oversight of the Country Director, the Logistics Officer must ensure all the logistics related to the Sharya office for the duration of the projects implemented. The Logistics Officer will ideally have a strong background in logistics, with 2+ years of experience with a strong knowledge of logistics and procurement tasks and procedures. Experience providing logistics in the humanitarian context (non-governmental organizations) is highly desired, as well as experience in all steps of a procurement process.

The Logistics Officer will be integral to daily activity, interacting regularly with staff members, visitors, and beneficiaries. This is a full-time position based in Sharya.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform several functions:

  • Support Program Managers in the planning, development, and day-to-day activities at the office.
  • Proactively identify and solve issues on procurement, communication, and other tasks as they arise
  • Support the planning and managing of events and workshops; support identifying and reserving appropriate spaces to conduct multi-day events and be present to manage the event
  • Aid in identifying vendors and follow up on procurement of materials for day-to-day activities
  • Assist in payment and collecting invoices from vendors
  • Facilitate communication with beneficiaries and other staff
  • Translate between English, Kurdish, and Arabic, orally and in written documents
  • Complete reports as assigned by supervisor.
  • Develop and maintain work plans to achieve target indicators.
  • Attend FYF meetings and trainings as needed and as requested.
  • Be able to support office administration, including purchase orders, budgeting, timesheets, and other requests by the program managers.
  • Manage timesheets for staff, purchase office items, report to finance about needs
  • Perform and assist in another task when necessary.

Qualifications & requirements

  • University degree in English, business management, education, or a related subject
  • Two years of experience in logistics
  • Conduct duties in a timely manner, with attention to detail and strong work ethics;
  • All information acquired during the work with the FYF Team is to be kept highest confidentiality
  • Have the highest respect for Yezidi women, especially Yezidi survivors of sexual violence.
  • Proven ability to calmly, professionally, and successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrates initiative and is comfortable working in a group as well as independently.

The most essential qualities for this position include compassion, cultural sensitivity, ability to navigate complex social dynamics, integrity, emotional strength, ability to work as part of a team, and respect for the vulnerable and suffering.
