Job Description

Announcement for Service Contract: Vocational Skills Trainers

Number of positions: Multiple trainers will be contracted from this announcement

Locations: Shatt Al Arab District, Basra Governorate

Position overview: ARD will conduct multi-day skills/vocational training sessions for its livelihoods program beneficiaries. We anticipate offering trainings in the following skills (to be confirmed based on beneficiary demand; this list is not exhaustive):

Plastering, Construction, Carpentry, Painting, and Insulation Works.
Electricity works (boards, cables, and maintenance).
Plumbing, Welding, Water Supply pipes, and connection works.

Responsibilities:

Prepare a detailed training program, including a clear methodology and proposed tools. The training must adopt a participatory and interactive approach which should include educational games for practicing the skills learned.
Prepare a bill of quantity for any materials/tools needed for trainees.
Prepare a list of requirements for venues and any major equipment needed to conduct the training.
Record trainees’ participation and attention during the training and report to ARD management on a daily basis.
- Assess at the end of each class trainees’ comprehension of the subjects discussed.

Qualifications & requirements

Degree or professional certification in the relevant skill(s), as appropriate
Demonstrated professional experience directly related to the relevant skill(s)
Previous training experience in the target skill(s), preferably with experience working with low literacy populations
Experience developing training curriculum
Experience working with people from different backgrounds
Motivated, dynamic; able and willing to take initiative
Arabic language is required
Previous experience providing similar services for an NGO is preferred
