Job Description

Position Summary

​The Turkish Language Instructor will lead classes of 17 to 103 students, organizing lectures, coursework, and hands-on activities. Responsibilities include teaching the Turkish Language cycle, preparing materials, assigning homework, and integrating real-world case studies. The instructor will assess student progress, provide personalized support, manage classroom dynamics, and maintain records of attendance and grades. Collaboration with staff and administrators is key to fostering a positive student experience.​

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a classroom of 17-103 students.
  • Organize classroom lectures and coursework.
  • Prepare materials and activities.
  • Teach the Turkish Language cycle and how it can be implemented to organize projects.
  • Assist students with academic and personal issues that may be impacting their performance in the classroom.
  • Bring real case studies into the classroom.
  • Apply hands-on Turkish Language methods during class sessions.
  • Assign homework and interesting exercises.
  • Identify students with special requirements and create individualized plans.
  • Determine exam and assignment grades.
  • Provide feedback based on workload and classroom behavior.
  • Keep a record of students’ attendance and grades.
  • Manage classroom crises and resolve conflict.
  • Track and communicate students' advancement throughout the course.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and administrators to foster a good student experience.

Qualifications & requirements

  • Native or near-native fluency in Turkish, with a strong grasp of grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuances.
  • Proven experience teaching Turkish as a second language, preferably at the secondary or post-secondary level.
  • Bachelor's degree in Turkish, Education, Linguistics, or a related field; a Master's degree or teaching certification is preferred.
  • Experience in designing and implementing Turkish language curricula, including coursework, exams, and engaging activities.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to engage and motivate large groups of students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in assessing student performance, providing constructive feedback, and grading assignments and exams.
  • Ability to identify and support students with special learning needs, creating individualized learning plans when necessary.
  • Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills to address classroom challenges effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and administrators to ensure a positive and cohesive learning environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
