Job Description

Under the supervision of the Project Officer; the social worker will ensure that project activities are implemented on time according to the project timeline and budget, and adhere to the SIF child safeguarding policy and do no harm principle.

Implement the activities under the Orphan project (child protection, education):

• Collect essential data and information for the selection of orphaned children and their families, for the program's implementation, through home visits and field surveys.
• Participate in the selection of orphaned children with the MEAL team based on the diagnosis of their vulnerability in order to integrate them into the program.
• Establish and maintain networks with existing community structures and other partners for referral and networking purposes for educational, community support and social welfare services).
• Facilitation of parenting support sessions with guardians and awareness sessions with orphan children on:
  • Conduct awareness/ information sessions with parents/ guardians and children on the importance of education, child rights, child responsibilities, and child protection.
  • Conduct life skills support sessions with parent/ guardians, young-orphaned children and their siblings on early childhood marriages, stress management, parenting skills, reproductive health and self-care.
• Organize socio-cultural and recreational activities for orphaned children and their siblings.
• Identify orphan children who are vulnerable or experiencing abuse, neglect, exploitation or violence, offer appropriate support, and refer to case management for needful action(s).
• Conduct group PSS sessions for the beneficiaries and identify the specific cases for referral to case management for individual counselling and treatment.
• Assist families in opening bank/e-wallet accounts to receive the scholarship.
• Identify households’ needs regarding children's education (materials, school support, enrolment assistance, etc.)
• Conduct regular home visits to orphan families to follow up on their social wellbeing.
• identify school related needs and support the caregivers with school related issues and demands (inscription, transport, material, attendance, results, school guidance).
• Organize and conduct monitoring visits with schools to verify orphan-sponsored children's enrolment in schooling and follow up with children to check their schooling results.

Implement the activities under Seasonal Project:

• Identification and selection of beneficiaries for seasonal food/NFI distribution projects.
• Conduct Household/beneficiary assessments for seasonal projects.
• Conduct the distributions of food and NF Items in the assigned areas.
• Maintain a record of beneficiaries for the distributions.

Monitoring, evaluation and project reporting

• Write reports on field and office activities after each activity.
• Report to the protection team leader on the progress of activities and potential difficulties.
• Participate in capacity building activities, training and exchange of best practices.
• Preparation of success stories periodically;

Reporting Donors Calibri (Body)

• Participate in the preparation of the annual, individual reports of sponsored orphaned children and upload the reports to SIF reporting platform.

Implementation of the SIF Child Protection Policy

• Contribute to the mapping of child safeguarding risks for the sponsorship project, the identification of measures to manage these risks, their implementation and monitoring.
• Ensure that only essential data to the program is collected and managed in accordance with the principles of “Confidentiality” and "Best interests of the Child".
