Position Summary:

The QA/QC Technician reports to the Drilling & Workover Team Lead.

The role is responsible for the management, coordination and inspections of all drilling & workover activities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Role Synopsis:

The functions to be managed by this position include but are not limited to:

  • QAQC of local machine shops, all premium connections
  • make up and pressure testing of critical well components
  • fabrication and other sub-contractor systems and process
  • failure investigation for the contractor’s equipment
  • QMS audit for service suppliers
  • coordination of 3rd party inspection companies
  • Support operational requirements where required.
  • Technical evaluation of QAQC criteria for Wells related tenders.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Help develop, implement and maintain HKN’s minimum standards for all Wells local and international contractors.
  • Ensure contractor delivery to international and contract standards by managing scheduled tiered multi-level field, facility and procedure & data QAQC audits.
  • Schedule follow up reviews and tracking of Quality related action items.
  • Perform trouble shooting, root cause analysis and incident investigation reports.
  • Assign responsibilities and tasks to expat and national team members dependent on skill sets, experience, and knowledge.
  • To liaise and facilitate feedback on Quality and technical issues with the HKN Wells department and SCM managers.
  • Arrange and facilitate contractor performance improvement meetings as and when required.
  • Ensure all service providers meet international standards (API, ISO, IADC) and best practices as appropriate.
  • Ensure on-going QAQC audits are tracked
  • Technical focal point for OCTG, tubing refurbishment and local API machine shop contracts.
  • Technical input to contracts.
  • Coordinate and liaise with 3rd party inspection teams (both local and international).
  • Lead preparation and technical evaluation of QAQC criteria for Wells tenders. Provide support to SCM/discipline engineers for preparation, execution and management of tenders and contracts.
  • Provide additional technical input and support to various wells teams when required

Qualifications & requirements

Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Proven record of strong execution and delivery in a similar role.
  • A minimum of 15yrs oil industry experience in different roles, including minimum 5yrs in supervisor or management position. Experienced in working within multi discipline Wells teams
  • Strong knowledge of QAQC and management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of API standards.
  • Strong knowledge of surface wellhead systems, Drilling, WO, Completions & Intervention Operations & equipment.
  • Ability to compile detailed technical reports.
  • Qualified IRCA lead auditor.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Fluent in English language with strong communication skills is essential.
  • Maintains a high standard of business integrity, professional behavior and confidentiality.
  • Experience of working in Middle East land-based environments is preferred.
  • A flexible approach to work is essential.
