Contract length
12 Months can be extended.
Purpose:
As part of CP and Psychosocial support project focusing on provision of Community based child protection to conflict
affected boys and girls in Sinjar city in Iraq. SOSD is working to mitigate the consequences of CP in conflicts and support
the displaced boys and girls to overcome their trauma, through Psychosocial Support Units and CP Mobile Team, in
addition to; engaging the community leaders and stakeholders to provision of community based child protection in
North Iraq – Kurdistan region and Ninawa. SOSD is therefore looking for PSS facilitator to work under aforementioned
project.
The PSS Facilitator will report to Team leader
Key Areas of Responsibility
PSS activities :
• Deliver PSS methodologies to children of different age groups, including Little Fellow, I DEAL , as well as
structured PSS methodology for parents and caregivers
• Ensure that programs are meeting the specific needs of children
• Carry out the outreach and registration process for each PSS cycle, and give inputs on best schedule for
programs according to the specific needs/context of the site location
• Carry out pre and post-tests with participants
• Be responsible for keeping track of attendance sheets for each group
• Work closely with the case management and outreach teams to identify children to participate in PSS activities,
according to the agreed criteria
• Participate in the development of lessons learned and best practices and contribute relevant information to
project reports
• Observe the children during the outdoor activities
• Report to the Team Leader in case of a student is absent for more than two days or left the Centre , and report
to the case management team for follow-up of the case
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
• Respect and adhere to SOSD Child Safe Guarding Policy

Qualifications & requirements

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
• 2 years relevant experience in field work on the issues related to Child Protection or Education
• At least 1 year specific Facilitator or Teacher or work experience with children
• Previous experience in a similar position with international or national organizations or government authorities
• Strong facilitation skills and ability to lead groups of children
• Fluent in written and spoken in Arabic
• Knowledge of Child Protection standards and procedures
• Ability to discuss sensitive issues with children and parents/caregivers and provide guidance and support
 • Good understanding of the local context especially of the IDP/ Returnees situations in Iraq
• Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities and work long hours in project operational area.
• Ability to multitask, handle pressure, improvise, and be a good team player.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

the (SOSD) and represent the organisation in a loyal and responsible manner.
