Position Summary:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, and functionally to the Senior Process Engineer, the Process Engineer provides process engineering support to the projects and operations teams. Specifically, this will include assisting the operations team with day-to-day process engineering related activities such as plant optimisation, engineering queries and operating within the management of change (MOC) process. In addition, the role will support the projects and engineering team in the creation of work scopes for conceptual and front-end engineering design and will interface with third party engineering companies regarding existing engineering projects.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the operations team with troubleshooting, plant optimisation and root cause analysis.
  • Support the Project and Production / Operations teams, including the assessment of engineering queries and creation of management of change (MOC) documentation.
  • Provide process engineering input to assist in the creation of work scopes for process related studies (e.g., conceptual, feasibility, etc.)
  • Provide process engineering input to engineering project work, including review and approval of engineering documents such as P&IDs, C&Es, etc.
  • Review specifications for process equipment and assess their suitability.
  • Participate in project HAZOPs, as required.
  • Review actions from previous HAZOPs and progress their completion.
  • Promote an integrated approach by working within a multi-disciplinary team to incorporate process, mechanical and E&I engineering expertise into the design and construction of HKN facilities.
  • Interface with other HKN engineers to ensure that best practices are defined and shared.

Qualifications & requirements

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process or Chemical Engineering.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Experience: 

Essential

  • Minimum of two years experience in an oil / gas or petrochemical processing facility.
  • Previous working experience within the Middle East - preferably Iraq and KRG

Preferred

  • Minimum of two years of process plant / maintenance operations experience.
  • Experience in detail design and engineering support activities.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills (in English).
  • Strong engineering aptitude required; prefer past experience within engineering
  • Accurate and pays attention to detail.
  • Personally resilient, flexible, self-confident, self-motivated.
  • Team player and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Good time management.
  • Plan and organize work load effectively.
  • Computer literate with a range of applications.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel to site is required. This requires an acceptable level of mobility and fitness to carry essential safety equipment (escape sets).
