Purpose:
As part of CP and Psychosocial support project focusing on provision of Community based child protection to conflict
affected boys and girls in Sinjar city in Iraq. SOSD is working to mitigate the consequences of CP in conflicts and support
the displaced boys and girls to overcome their trauma, through Psychosocial Support Units and CP Mobile Team, in
addition to; engaging the community leaders and stakeholders to provision of community based child protection in
North Iraq – Kurdistan region and Ninawa. SOSD is therefore looking for Outreach worker to work under
aforementioned project.
The Outreach worker will report to Team leader
Key Areas of Responsibility
Awareness and CPC meeting activities :
• Ensure that programs are meeting the specific needs of children and parents
• Be responsible for keeping track of attendance sheets for each activities.
• Providing referrals for participants and their families.
• Making home visits as needed.
• Advocating for patients to ensure adequate housing, treatment, benefits, and community services.
• Developing patient treatment plans.
• Identifying and engaging with community members to inform them about available services and resources.
• Organizing and facilitating community outreach events and workshops.
• Interviewing and counseling those in need of assistance.
• Creating treatment plans and programs.
• Helping to set and achieve life goals.
• Participate in the development of lessons learned and best practices and contribute relevant information to
project reports
• Observe the children during the outdoor activities.
• Work closly with CPC for all activities that will be run by CPC’s.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
• Respect and adhere to SOSD Child Safe Guarding Policy
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
• 2 years relevant experience in field work on the issues related to Child Protection or Education
• At least 1 year specific Outreach worker or work experience with community
• Previous experience in a similar position with international or national organizations or government authorities
• Strong facilitation skills and ability to lead groups of community members.
• Fluent in written and spoken in Arabic
• Knowledge of Child Protection standards and procedures
• Ability to discuss sensitive issues with children and parents/caregivers and provide guidance and support
Good understanding of the local context especially of the IDP/ Returnees situations in Iraq
• Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities and work long hours in project operational area.
• Ability to multitask, handle pressure, improvise, and be a good team player.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Additional Consideration
The Outreach worker is to abide by the Child Rights, Child Safeguarding and PSEA policies and personal code of conduct
by the (SOSD) and represent the organisation in a loyal and responsible manner.
Working days:, Sunday to Thursday
