The Instrument supervisor is responsible for all planned, corrective, and campaign instrumentation maintenance activities.
Purpose is to plan, direct and execute maintenance activities and related project work. The position involves leading a team of skilled Instrumentation Technicians, control system disciplines and managing interfaces with operations, engineering, to ensure that plant integrity and safe operations are maintained.
They shall manage the execution of all Safety & Environmental Critical Equipment testing in accordance with operational procedures.
Managing all mechanical maintenance resources, including contractors, spare parts and contributing to maintenance budget development
Ensuring maintenance KPI’s are achieved.
Reporting on maintenance activities and leading RCFA’s as required
Ensuring that team HSE KPIs’ are met and driving HSE Performance
Leading continuous improvement in their discipline area
Managing obsolescence in their discipline area
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Work Responsibilities and Planning
Ensures that the team have a safe place of work through compliance with and regular review of procedures (including Task Instructions, Permits-to-Work, Task Risk Assessments, and Toolbox Talks).
Ensures compliance with Government Standards, Legislation and Regulatory requirements.
Ensures compliance with Company Standards, Philosophies, Procedures and Guidelines.
Directs all instrument maintenance activities at Khormor LPG recovery plant.
Leads a team of skilled instrument technicians and acts as interface between management and technical team.
Able to carry out loop checks and perform calibration. In-depth knowledge of PLC controllers,
Able to troubleshoot and fault find on instrumentation equipment, systems and controls.
Conversant with ICSS control systems, telecommunication equipment, rotating equipment monitoring and controls.
Leads ad-hoc teams of contract and vendor technicians for construction and maintenance work as required.
Liaises closely with Production Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams in activity planning, engineering change and cost control.
Ensures that procedures for the safe execution of tasks are in place and adhered to (including Task Instructions, Permits-to Work, Task Risk Assessments, and Toolbox Talks).
Ensures that all activities are accurately recorded in the maintenance management system, providing all necessary reports to the Operations support team.
Assists in recruiting, mentoring, training, and appraising maintenance personnel.
Conducts fault-finding and Root Cause Analysis on Control Systems and related problems both independently and in liaison with vendor specialists.
Promotes HSE culture.
Manages Records Proof Testing of Safety & Environmental Critical Equipment (SECE) to ensure that it is operating in compliance with its Performance Standard. Ensures that any failures are recorded and that remedial work is completed in a timely manner.
Ensures that Plant and Equipment is maintained according to compliance and integrity standards to meet expected reliability and ‘uptime’ Key Performance Indicators.
Ensures that all activities are fully and accurately recorded in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (SAP).
Ensures that all Plant and Equipment changes are fully and accurately recorded in the CMMS.
Ensures that all Maintenance Procedures are present, accurate and updated in the CMMS.
Ensures that all spares information, including equipment and task BOMs are present, accurate and updated in the CMMS.
Works with the Planning Team to prepare weekly, bi-weekly and monthly work and manpower planning and scheduling within the CMMS.
Works with the Planning Team to prepare Work including Task Lists, spares requirements and support services within the CMMS.
Works with the Planning Team and Discipline Supervisors to manage the Work Backlog
Manages data related to equipment health. Proposes improvements to risk-based inspection and condition monitoring of equipment and supports the Reliability team to conduct and improve equipment reliability programs.
Provides coaching and mentoring to trainee, junior and technician level personnel.
Required to have in-depth knowledge of fire and gas systems and instrumentation; control valves and controllers; Metering; Pressure, level and temperature transmitters and controllers; Loop control and tuning; Instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting; Gas Engine controls and instrumentation; Generator controls and instrumentation.
Qualifications & requirements
Instrument and Control or Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Degree level.
Military Control Systems qualifications / experience will be considered.
Prefer candidate with DCS, PLC, Metering or Analyser experience
Prefer candidate with Compex certification
At least 12 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry. With 5 years in a similar supervisory level
Fully experienced in working with safety management systems and a basic understanding of local safety management legislation.
In-depth understanding of Oil & Gas production equipment, processes and utility systems
Experience of Emerson DeltaV, Allen Bradley PLCs, Emerson Metering Systems preferrable.
Excellent experience in a CMMS system, SAP preferred.
Experience in Fiscal Metering and calibration is an advantage for a candidate.
Experience in Pre commissioning , commissioning and start up is an advantage for a candidate
