The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a public-benefit federal enterprise that supports the German Government and many public and private sector clients in around 120 countries in achieving their objectives in international cooperation. With this aim, GIZ works together with its partners to develop effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions.
The GIZ “Strengthening Participation, Peaceful Co-existence, and Equality in Iraq” (SPACE) programme aims at strengthening the capacities of state and non-state actors to actively support the equal participation of women in Iraq including KRI. The project started in June 2024 for a planned duration of three years. SPACE focuses on two major components: 1) Participation: Strengthening the political, economic, and social participation of women; 2) Prevention: Strengthening capacities and structures to prevent violence against women and girls and increase adequate service delivery for survivors of violence.
The project cooperates with different actors from government, civil society, and the private sector. A special focus lies on strengthening civil society networks across the MENA-region.
The Programme is looking to expand the project team in Erbil.
