Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Freelance Solar System Designer to support the technical design of commercial and industrial solar PV systems. The candidate will be responsible for conducting remote or physical site assessments, designing efficient and compliant solar systems, and delivering all necessary technical documentation. This is a project-based freelance role suitable for a detail-oriented professional with strong design and engineering capabilities.

Scope of Work & Responsibilities:

•System Design & Proposal Preparation

•Perform site assessments using available data (client input, satellite imagery, or field data).

•Design complete solar PV systems (on-grid, off-grid, or hybrid) based on project requirements.

•Size components including solar panels, inverters, batteries, and protection devices.

•Generate accurate performance simulations, energy yield estimates, and system losses.

Technical Documentation:

•Prepare and submit:

•System layout drawings (AutoCAD or equivalent)

•Electrical Single-Line Diagrams (SLD)

•Performance reports (PVsyst, PV*SOL, Helioscope, etc.)

•Bills of Quantity (BOQ)

•Ensure all documentation is aligned with local and international electrical/solar standards.

Collaboration & Support:

•Coordinate with the internal sales or engineering team to understand project scope and technical goals.

•Support proposal development by delivering timely and high-quality design packages.

•Provide clarifications or adjustments to the design based on client or site needs.

Deliverables (Per Project):

•Site assessment summary (if needed)

•Full design package: layout drawings, SLD, performance report

•BOQ with technical specifications

•Support for minor revisions or clarifications (if requested during proposal/finalization phase)

Qualifications & requirements

Requirements:

•Degree/Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.

•At least 2–3 years of experience in solar PV system design.

•Proficiency in PV design tools (PV*SOL, PVSyst, AutoCAD, or Helioscope).

•Strong technical knowledge of commercial-scale PV systems.

•Ability to work independently and deliver within short deadlines.

•Familiarity with B2B project workflows and documentation.

Engagement Type:
