Job Description

Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: [Duhok]
Reports To: Program Manager

Contract Type: [full-time]

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Manage cash flow, ensuring adequate funds are available for operational needs.
  • Support the preparation of budgets and monitor budget implementation.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost-saving.
  1. Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Process payments, invoices, and reimbursements promptly and accurately.
  • Monitor receivables, ensuring timely collection of dues.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other financial statements regularly.
  1. Compliance and Audit Support
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain a system of controls over financial transactions.
  1. Payroll and Taxation
  • Process payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws.
  • Prepare and submit tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  1. Capacity Building and Collaboration
  • Work with program and operations teams to provide financial insights and guidance.
  • Assist in training staff on financial policies and procedures as needed.
  • Support grant management and donor reporting requirements.

 

Qualifications & requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Experience: Minimum three years of experience in finance, accounting, or a similar role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
