About the job

Job Purpose :

A Power Plant Engineering Manager's job purpose is to lead and manage all technical and engineering activities for a power plant, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable generation of electricity while meeting operational targets, budget requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Main Tasks & Accountabilities

Technical leadership

Providing technical guidance to engineering staff and other departments, reviewing designs and plans, and ensuring adherence to technical standards. Review technical documentation from other engineering companies feeding the same project.

Operational Excellence:

Monitoring plant performance, optimizing systems, and implementing strategies to improve energy efficiency and equipment reliability.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensuring all engineering activities and plant operations meet safety regulations, environmental standards, and other statutory requirements.

Budget and Cost Control:

Assisting with capital and operating budget development, controlling costs, and ensuring projects stay within budget constraints.

Team Management:

Directing and managing the engineering team, fostering career development, setting performance targets, and overseeing recruitment and training

Stakeholder Communication:

Liaising with management, contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure transparency and coordination of efforts.
In essence, the role combines deep technical expertise with strong management and strategic planning skills to ensure the power plant runs effectively, profitably, and safely.

Qualifications & requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or related field of study
8-10 years experience in plant industries and at least 5 years of experience in combined cycle power plant;
Able to read, interpret and update (redline) drawings;
Technical autonomy in (proactively) advising on solutions and making decisions in the plant
Able and willing to work in technical inspections
At ease with IT tools, incl. MS Office, Project, Outlook, AutoCAD, primavera;
Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited, reference verification and background check;
Any certification is preferred such as CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), PMP, ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, FIDIC Contract Familiarity, OSHA / NEBOSH Awareness (preferred for safety coordination)
