Job Description

Job Summary

Provides technical support and repairs / performs preventive maintenance of clinical equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares technical reports, technical evaluations for equipment.
  • Inspects and accepts received equipment and enters all data in the system.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance checks and inspections by observations and application of test instruments.
  • Analyses equipment for failure, faults or malfunctions based on experience and skill, application of test instruments and reference to technical literature and schematics.
  • Performs inspection and commissioning of new clinical equipment.
  • Prepares and enters data in logs; reports, forms and equipment records.
  • Prepares requisitions for spare parts.
  • Implements department’s policies and codes of practice relevant to their processes.
  • Contributes to process and decisions to procure new equipment: Assessment of needs and specifications with the end users, identification of suitable providers, managing tender processes end to end.

Qualifications & requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Electronic Engineering or any related area
  • 4 years post qualification experience in biomedical engineering
  • Knowledge of the operation, repair and maintenance medical equipment technology
